DAY 1
Welcome to the first installment of The Flesh Files. Over the next four days, we’re opening up the process behind the new EP, from the early demos to the sonic direction we’ve taken as a band.
Today we'll be breaking down the origins of Birdcage and Evelyn. One is a staple from early days working in a warehouse, while the other marks the very first track we recorded together as Flesh Planet. We discuss blending 90s grunge and power-pop with the industrial electronics we’re into now, alongside the films and TV shows that inspired the lyrics.
We’ve also included a special alternative version of Birdcage. For this session, we wanted to strip the song back to give it an earthy, tribal feel inspired by the classic MTV Unplugged sessions of the 90s and 00s.
