We’re officially halfway through the series. Today, we’re getting into the stories behind two tracks that really lean into the more abrasive, machine-like side of our sound.
Today we track the long evolution of Absorbed, a song that’s lived through several iterations before finding its home with Flesh Planet. We discuss the challenge of bringing guitars back into a synth-heavy workflow and the influence of bands like The Locust and Nine Inch Nails.
Lyrically, we get into the noisy chaos of sensory overload, that overwhelming feeling of being freaked out by crowded spaces and the strange, disconnected way the world can look when your brain is hitting a breaking point. We also break down the "Goosebumps metal" vibes of Colonise & Maximise, a track driven by the frustration of the low-wage corporate grind and the greed of the people at the top.
We’ve put together a re-worked version of Colonise & Maximise. Similar to the Birdcage session, we’ve gone for a dark, tribal feel. It’s a hybrid performance that mixes acoustic and electric instruments
